History buffs should also visit the Ancient Burying Ground of Hartford Connecticut, Hartfords oldest landmark. Dating from the 1600s, this location was the final resting place for all Hartford denizens until the early 1800s. Hartford has always been a hot spot for live theater. The Tony Award winning Hartford Stage and Theatre Works are two top-notch performing arts venues in Hartford. Live performances on a grander scale can be found at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. This beautiful theater is home to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and Connecticut Opera. Sports fans will be pleased to know that the XL Center in downtown Hartford hosts University of Connecticut men's and women's home basketball games.
