According to its Chamber of Commerce, Bloomington-Normal is the fastest growing metropolitan area in Illinois.The Bloomington-Normal area has an impressive business community that includes State Farm Insurance, which was founded in Bloomington in 1922. Another major central Illinois employer, Mitsubishi Motors North America, operates a manufacturing plant just 13 miles from the Extended Stay America Bloomington - Normal. With more than 20,000 enrolled students and a staff exceeding 3,200, Illinois State University, or ISU, is an integral resource in the Bloomington-Normal area. For decades, ISU was primarily a teachers college, but today the university offers a broad course of studies under six colleges, including fine arts, business, and science and technology. Those in need of a hotel near Illinois State University are in luck; just two and a half miles from ISU is the Extended Stay America Bloomington-Normal hotel.
